I established The Greek Academy because I want people to learn Greek, finally.

How we Greek

The Greek Academy has a clear, two-tiered structure.

Tier 1 : Foundations

Beginners work through our Foundations program, a serious first year of Modern Greek in three, 10-week courses.

Tier 2 : Established Learning

Intermediate and advanced learners (graduates of Foundations or non-traditional placements) progress into our Established Learners’ School. This is a professor-led community where we learn through conversation, book studies, community interaction, and Q&As.

We believe it does. We cannot serve thousands of learners, but every student who learns with us becomes our personal responsibility, and our joyous commitment.

The Greek Academy is led by an established teacher, passionate linguist, and accomplished learner of Greek himself. Research informs our pedagogy, and humanity informs our approach.

This is a place for quality education, and for real, long-term connection between learners. We are accountable to every student, and our students become accountable to each other.

Meet the Founder

I’m Michael. I love learning Greek, and I love teaching it.

My commitment to The Greek Academy comes from the pain I feel when I meet people who have been “trying to learn Greek” for years. It also comes from the utter joy I experience when I see people make real progress, and feel it themselves.

I value all of our students, and am committed to them until the end.

Here’s how:

  1. Talk with Michael. Schedule a short call to share your background and Greeking goals.

  2. Receive your placement. If you request a placement during the call, Michael will email you the following day and tell you where you’ll begin.

  3. Enroll and start learning. Join your class and set off!
